2004 Milestones and Achievements:
  » Surface Domain
   
  •  Funding in FY04 & FY 05 to provide design and development of Maritime Security Cutter, Large,  (WMSL,    formerly NSC) lead ship and start construction on second WMSL
  •  Started fabrication of lead ship in September 2004
  •  Keel Laying expected April 2005; first WMSL scheduled to be delivered May 2007
  •  Maritime Patrol Boats Matagorda, Metompkin, Padre, Attu delivered with Deepwater upgrades
  •  Recent damage and repairs to Matagorda inspire design changes across classes (110’ and 123’)
  •  WPB Hulls 4-8 at BSL, Hulls 9-12 Long Lead Material under contract
  •  Contract to commence Maritime Security Cutter, Medium (WMSM) design awarded June 2004
  •  Post 9-11 capabilities incorporated into the plan to meet new mission requirements
  •  Contract letter to begin detailed design on WMSM November 2004
  •  Contract to commence Maritime Patrol Coastal (WPC) preliminary design awarded July 2004
  •  First WPC hull is composite technology demonstrator, working toward deployment in 2006.
  •  C4ISR Increment 1 is design baseline (for WMSL, WMSM, WPC)
  » Aviation Domain
   
  •  Re-engining HH-65 helicopter to restore safe & reliable operations
  •  1st HH-65 test flights August 2004
  •  1st article delivered October 2004, 2nd article delivery January 2005
  •  HH-60 Legacy upgrades include new avionics, radio, navigation, and sensor packages
  •  8 MH-68 Stingray leased for assignment to Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron Ten (HITRON)
  •  First Fuselage of Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) nearing completion December 2004.
  •  Ongoing effort to determine optimal mix of HC-130 and the CASA to meet overall system requirements
  •  Completed successful Preliminary Design Review (PDR) for Eagle Eye (VUAV)
  •  VUAV Design and development costs funded in FY04; FY05 request includes purchase of two VUAVs
  •  Current schedule project testing through mid-2007, Initial Operational Capability (IOC) Spring 2008
